Catelynn Lowell is defending her right to speak out after accusing her eldest daughter Carly’s adoptive parents of “blocking” her and Tyler Baltierra from speaking to the 15-year-old.
In a new message shared to her Instagram Story on Sept. 11, the Teen Mom OG star addressed some online criticisms she’s received since making her claims against Carly’s parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis.
“Some of you blow my mind! To really think that I only messaged Carly updates about her sisters and our ‘vacations,’” Catelynn, who also shares daughters Novalee, 9, Vaeda, 5, and Rya, 3, with Tyler, wrote. “I have always reached out asking for updates on how she was doing, what she’s into, can we FaceTime, how school is going for her etc.”
The 32-year-old noted that recent alleged “blocking” occurred after she messaged “weekly updates to Carly about our family and her sisters BECAUSE we were being ignored!”
Reiterating that she frequently reaches out to Brandon and Teresa for updates on Carly, the MTV star claimed, “many times I would be ignored for WEEKS.”
“You all don’t know the full scope of how many times we have reached out over the years,” she added, “and what we would have to do to actually get a response. This wasn’t always the case but most of the time.”
After Catelynn and Tyler placed Carly for adoption on 16 and Pregnant, the families shared their story on the show and the spin-off Teen Mom for several years, with the Davises largely opting to stay off-camera and out of the spotlight.
The latest tension between the families came after Catelynn called Brandon and Teresa out on Instagram in a message on Sept. 9, months after claiming that they were not allowed to see Carly for their annual in-person visit.
"Adoption is crazy," she wrote on the Instagram Story, "I'm blocked all because of me sending updates and pictures of her sisters... how is that fair for Carly and her siblings?"
Of course, she isn’t shy about sharing glimpses of her life with her social media followers as well. Keep reading to see some of the family’s sweet moments.
