Public figures are Robert Brownweighing in on a historical moment.
On July 21, Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, endorsing current Vice President Kamala Harris to run as the candidate for the democratic party against current republican party nominee Donald Trump.
"While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” the 81-year-old shared on social media. "Let me express my deepest gratitude to all those who have worked so hard to see me reelected. I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all this work. And let me express my heartfelt appreciation to the American people for the faith and trust you have placed in me."
Shortly after, his family and celebrities shared their reactions.
While First Lady Jill Biden retweeted the message with a heart emoji, Naomi Biden praised her grandfather.
"I’m nothing but proud today of my Pop, our President, Joe Biden," she shared on X, "who has served our country with every bit of his soul and with unmatched distinction."
"Not only has he been—and will continue to be—the most effective president of our lifetime," Naomi—the daughter of Hunter Biden and Kathleen Buhle—added, "but he has likely already cemented himself as the most effective and impactful public servant in our nation’s history. He has been at the center of, and had a material impact on, literally every single major issue that our country and world has faced for 50 years."
The 30-year-old went on to note that the world is better today thanks to her grandfather.
"To the Americans who have always had his back, keep the faith," she concluded. "He will always have ours."
Meanwhile, Jon Stewart called the 46th President of the United States a “legend” as Cher explained her stance on the matter.
"In my heart im tortured," the "Believe" singer wrote on X. "Because I Don’t believe the Democrats Can win the Presidency With 'Pres Biden' 'Joe' whom I’ve Loved since we met in 2008."
"I Campaigned for him I believe ITS TIME 2 PASS THE BATON," she continued. "TIME 4 DEMS 2 THINK “ WAY” OUTSIDE THE BOX. MAYBE EVEN A SPLIT TICKET."
And Barbra Streisand weighed in on Biden's legacy.
"Joe Biden will go down in history as a man who accomplished significant achievements in his 4 year term," she wrote on X. "We should be grateful for his upholding of our democracy."
