An 83-year-old Michigan woman died in an aircraft crash in Napoleon Township Saturday.
Napoleon Township Police said in a press release that Karol Kay DeGraw died after her gyroplane crashed at a private airstrip on her property.
She was alone in the plane at the time of the crash and was last seen alive taking off from the airstrip.
DeGraw's intended destination is unclear, though police believe that she intended to remain in the Napoleon Township area — approximately 85 miles west of Detroit — according to the release.
The Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board and Township Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
